HIV cure research
Prof. Sharon Lewin highlighted advances in immunotherapies, latency reversal strategies and gene-based approaches such as CRISPR. She also noted ongoing challenges around safety, delivery, scalability and equitable access.
|
HIV prevention landscape
Prof. David Lewis reviewed long-acting prevention tools - including cabotegravir, lenacapavir, vaginal rings, and emerging ultra-long-acting technologies - alongside implementation challenges such as affordability, health-system readiness and resistance monitoring.
