Davos Declaration
Drug firms ask governments to do more in fight against superbugs. In a declaration at the World Economic Forum in Davos, firms called for coordinated efforts to cut unnecessary use of antibiotics and support development of new ones, including by creating new economic models and investing in research.

The Infection Prevention and Control Global Unit
A new approach has been launched to strengthen national and international capacity, improve practices and change behaviour to achieve safer, high quality patient care. This work is now being led by a new Infection Prevention and Control Global Unit at WHO.

WHO World Antibiotic Awareness Week
16 - 22 November 2016. This global campaign aims to increase awareness of global antibiotic resistance and to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance.

Following Professor Alasdair Geddes’ retirement after 10 years in the post, Professor Jean-Marc Rolain (Aix Marseille Université and Hôpital de la Timone, Marseille, France) has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents (IJAA).
