 New ex officio Executive Committee members 

ISAC is delighted to introduce two new ex officio Executive Committee members who will make excellent additions to ISAC's international Board. Sabiha Essack is the South African Research Chair in Antibiotic Resistance and One Health and Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa.

Jose Munita is an Associate Professor at the Instituto de Ciencias e Innovación en Medicina (ICIM) at the Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile and Adjunct Assistant Professor and Director of International Research at the Center for Antimicrobial Resistance and Microbial Genomics (CARMiG), UTHealth in Houston, TX.

ISAC webinar | Emerging and re-emerging infections among migrants 

 

ISAC invites you to a webinar that focuses on respiratory infectious diseases in refugees, providing insight into the epidemiology, prevention and management of important pathogens. Dr Androulla Efstratiou (Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Diphtheria & Streptococcal Infections, UK Health Security Agency) will talk about diphtheria and other vaccine preventable diseases, while Dr Aula Abbara who has worked in many humanitarian and refugee settings in the Middle East, will review drug resistant tuberculosis among refugees and migrants.

Prof. April Baller (IPC & WASH Team Lead at the Health Emergencies Programme, World Health Organization) presented her timely keynote lecture "Pandemic preparedness and lessons learnt in infection prevention and control" at the 33rd International Congress of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ICC) held in Istanbul, in November 2024.

8th UAE International Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance (ICAMR)

 

ISAC was delighted to be an endorsing society for the 8th ICAMR which took place in February in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. ISAC President, Prof. Souha Kanj, was a member of the Scientific Programme Committee amongst the other esteemed experts.

APCCMI 2025

The Asia Pacific Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infection (APCCMI) is the biennial congress of ISAC Member Society, the Asia Pacific Society of Clinical Microbiology & Infection (APSCMI). APCCMI 2025 is taking place in in Bangkok, Thailand, on 2 – 4 November 2025, co-hosted by the Infectious Disease Association of Thailand (IDAT). The programme focuses on the global burden of infection particularly in our Asia-Pacific region and presents new insights and knowledge. 

ISAC is hosting a symposium on "Pandemic Preparedness Lessons and Challenges".
