Critical Care Infectious Diseases - Hot Topics and Upcoming Trends – webinar series
Session 3: Global perspectives in critical care infection: diagnostics, sepsis & stewardship

This final session in the three-part series will examine emerging global trends in critical care infection, focusing on the evolving role of diagnostics, new perspectives on the drivers of severe sepsis, the unique challenges of managing infection in tropical settings, and the growing importance of integrated infection control and antimicrobial stewardship.
Session 2: MDR infections in the ICU: antibiotics, duration and immune modulation
Leading experts explored cutting-edge strategies for managing multidrug-resistant infections in critically ill patients, including the latest antibiotics for MDR Gram-negative pathogens, innovative approaches using older drugs, optimal duration of therapy, and the role of immune modulation in reframing treatment for hospital-acquired pneumonia.

Challenges of antimicrobial resistances in different scenarios
ISAC hosted a symposium at Asia Pacific Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infections (APCCMI), Bangkok, November 2025. The symposium focused on the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), highlighting its multifaceted impact in conflict zones, post-pandemic settings, and the One Health perspective involving wildlife.

One Health special issue / webinar
ISAC hosted a One Health webinar to mark One Health Awareness Month. The webinar attracted over 450 attendees from 101 countries. Key themes included AMR in clinical and veterinary contexts, environmental transmission pathways, and integrated surveillance and management strategies, highlighting the need for cross sector collaboration to address this global health challenge.

ISAC publishes two leading journals—Journal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance (JGAR) and International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents (IJAA)—providing cutting-edge research and expert perspectives on AMR and infectious diseases.
