Dear APUA Colleagues
On behalf of the APUA Board, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy New Year – I hope you were able to take some time off during the festive period.
The past year has been very challenging for everyone and we appreciate the efforts of those involved in fighting the pandemic. We also very much appreciate your continued support of APUA. Board members are acutely aware that antimicrobial resistance has been largely neglected during COVID-19 and although it has been difficult to focus on other issues, the Board has strived to meet virtually to continue APUA’s activities.
During World Antibiotic Awareness Week, we recorded a series of short, informative videos on antimicrobial resistance in a bid to bring attention back to the issue which we hope you enjoyed.
We also continue to publish the APUA newsletter, one of which was a COVID-19 special. If you have any ideas for articles such as antimicrobial resistance initiatives in your region, please email Fee at secretariat@ISAC.world.
2021 is an important year for APUA as it marks 40 years since it was founded by Prof. Stuart Levy, a pioneer in the field of antibiotic resistance, although any planned face-to-face celebrations are likely to now be virtual.
If you want to get involved with APUA, develop your existing / create a new APUA Chapter, or have any other suggestions, your input would be gratefully received.
We do hope that 2021 will see an end to this pandemic and we look forward to refocusing our attention fully to combatting AMR, another global health issue.
With kind regards
Pierre Tattevin APUA Board Chair
