Dr Shaffi Koya serves as the Medical Officer for Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Prevention and Control at the WHO’s Regional Office for Eastern Mediterranean that covers 22 countries in Asia and Africa. He has several years of global experience, including with Doctors without borders, Boston University, Global Institute of Public Health, and health ministries of Saudi Arabia and India. In the past, he worked in the areas of health security and high threat pathogens, tuberculosis, polio, and vector borne and zoonotic diseases, and social determinants of health. He holds a Doctor of Public Health from Boston University, besides his medical, public health, management degrees from India.
