Speakers
Dr Antonia Scobie completed her medical training at Royal Free and University College Medical School in 2007. She completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Microbiology and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene during her specialist infection training in London.
In 2020, she was appointed as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at The Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal National Orthopaedic NHS Trust. Her specialist interests include orthopaedic and implant-associated infections, Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) and novel antimicrobial therapies including bacteriophages.
She is the research lead for the Bone Infection Unit at Royal National orthopaedic hospital and Lead for the UK Clinical Working Group for bacteriophage therapy in bone and joint infections.
Dr Julie Lourtet is a Clinical Microbiologist at Saint Joseph Hospital, Paris, France. She is a member of the recommendations group of National French Infectious Diseases Society (SPILF) and a member of the Infectious Diseases Now Journal Editorial board.
She has clinical research publications on bone and Joint infections, complex osteo articular infection and microbiological diagnosis. She has organised clinical microbiology courses for residents and students and is currently a member of the following scientific societies: ESCMID, ESGIAI, EBJIS, SPILF.
Dr Lourtet’s humanitarian activities include being a member of the “Biology doctors without borders" board.
Dr Giorgio Bartalucci is a clinical research fellow at the NIHR Clinical Research Facility at the University Hospital Southampton (UK) supporting delivery of early phase clinical trials of a range of novel vaccines and conducting human challenge studies.
After graduating from Cambridge medical school in 2018, Dr Bartalucci worked as a Junior Doctor across the South of England.
Dr Silvano Esposito is currently at the Department of Infectious Diseases, University of Salerno, Salerno, Italy. Dr Esposito is Chair of the ISAC Bone, Skin and Soft Tissue Working Group.
Dr Kordo Saeed is consultant medical microbiologist and clinical director of bacteriology at the Department of Infection, University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, UK. Dr Saeed is Secretary of ISAC's Bone, Skin & Soft Tissue Working Group.
