Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever: clinical realities, regional lessons and emerging challenges

Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) remains one of the most significant tick-borne viral threats across endemic regions, with cases continuing to rise in parts of Europe and Asia. This webinar brought together frontline experts from Kosova and Türkiye to share real-world clinical experience, epidemiological insights and lessons learned from managing CCHF in high-incidence settings.

Video invitations to attend ICC 2026

Prof. Souha Kanj, ISAC President and ICC Co-President, invites the global infectious diseases and microbiology community to join the ICC 2026 congress in Manila, 7-9 December 2026.

Prof. Vance Fowler, Florence McAlister Distinguished Professor of Medicine at Duke University and recipient of the Hamao Umezawa Memorial Award (HUMA) which is ISAC's highest award, encourages colleagues worldwide to attend.

2025 journal Impact Factors rise

ISAC is pleased to share increased 2025 Impact Factors for its official journals:

* International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents (IJAA): 5.0 (up from 4.6)
* Journal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance (JGAR): 3.7 (up from 3.2)

These increases reflect the leadership of Editors-in-Chief Prof. Jian Li (IJAA) and Prof. Athanasios Tsakris (JGAR), supported by their Editorial Assistants, the Elsevier publishing team, and the dedicated work of Section Editors, reviewers, authors and readers.

Congratulations to everyone involved in strengthening ISAC’s journals.

New APUA Board members

APUA is pleased to welcome three distinguished experts to its Board:

  • Melissa Johnson (USA) – Duke University Medical Center & Duke Antimicrobial Stewardship Outreach Network (DASON)
  • Nagwa Khamis (Egypt) – Ain Shams University & Children's Cancer Hospital Egypt (CCHE)-57357
  • Nour Shamas (Lebanon) – United Nations Environment Programme & Médecins Sans Frontières

Their expertise in infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, and antimicrobial resistance will help strengthen APUA’s global mission.

Two recent webinars will shortly be available on demand via the ISAC Academy:

Diagnostics and Therapeutics in S. aureus
Organised by the ISAC Working Groups on Rapid Diagnostics and Biomarkers / S. aureus.

Challenges and Perspectives on MDR Infections in Critically Ill Patients
Organised by the ESGCIP and the ISAC Working Group on Infections in the ICU & Sepsis.

Both sessions brought expert insights and practical perspectives for clinicians and researchers. Recordings will be accessible soon for those who wish to catch up or revisit the discussions.

ISAC is delighted to see Executive Committee member Professor Sabiha Essack featured in The Lancet Infectious Diseases Profiles series.

Her leadership in antimicrobial stewardship, commitment to equitable global health, and pivotal role in strengthening AMR capacity across Africa continue to shape the field. A very well-deserved recognition.
