Happening now

The 32nd International Congress of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ICC) is happening now at the Perth Convention Centre in Western Australia.

The congress began with an excellent programme of workshops on infection control, early career research, EUCAST, anti-infective pharmacology and a how to get your paper published session sponsored by Elsevier.

The opening lecture was the ISAC Hamao Umezawa Memorial Award (HUMA) lecture which this year was awarded to Prof. Robin Patel. THE HUMA award is the highest award given by ISAC for outstanding contributions in the field of antimicrobial chemotherapy. It is generously sponsored by the Microbial Chemistry Research Foundation of Japan. Prof. Masayuki Igarashi from the Microbial Chemistry Research Foundation gave an overview of the award and presented Prof. Patel before her excellent lecture on Microbial Theranostics – A Resistance Combatting Strategy.

There has already been a packed day of keynotes, plenaries and symposia and today promises more high-quality presentations by top experts in the fields of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance.
