New webinar
The ISAC Early Career Working Group and Anti-infective Pharmacology Working Group are pleased to organise our first ISAC and International Society of Anti-Infective Pharmacology (ISAP) joint Early Career webinar. This webinar aims to provide a platform for early career researchers (ECRs) to obtain career advice and to better understand the pressures impacting them and their career development. The webinar will provide a vital connection between senior colleagues and tomorrow's future leaders in the field of infectious diseases.

Prof. Sebastian Wicha
Sebastian Wicha is a Junior Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the Institute of Pharmacy, University of Hamburg, Germany since 2017. He is a pharmacist by training holding a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy from the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany (2015) and gained experience as a postdoctoral researcher at the Pharmacometrics Research Group at Uppsala University, Sweden (2015-2017).
His research group aims to improve and individualise drug therapy by means of pharmacokinetic- pharmacodynamic techniques with a special focus on anti-infectives. He has published 80+ papers in this field and has an h-index of 21. His research group has expertise in bioanalysis, pharmacometric data analysis and develops open-access web-based software to foster model-based therapeutic drug monitoring. Sebastian is Associate Editor at the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents (IJAA) and served as President (term 2020-2022) of the International Society of Anti-Infective Pharmacology (ISAP) and as Education Officer of the PK/PD study group of the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID).
A/Prof. Thomas Tängdén
Thomas Tängdén is an ID Physician and Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases at Uppsala University. He is Chair of the ESCMID PK/PD study group (EPASG), Chair of the Swedish Strategic Programme against Antibiotic Resistance (Strama) and Medical Advisor of the global resistance network ReAct. His research includes clinical and preclinical studies on multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, antibiotic combination therapy, rational use and dosing of antibiotics, and characterisation of antibiotic-induced collateral damage on the intestinal microbiota. The overall aim is to generate knowledge that can support optimised use of antibiotics to maximise their efficacy while reducing the risks of side effects and resistance development.
Dr Cuong Vuong
Dr Cuong Vuong is Director of Bacterial Infectious Diseases at Janssen Pharmaceuticals NV in Belgium. Prior to this, Dr Vuong was Director of Research (Laboratory Head of Bacteriology, Head of Animal Research Facility) at AiCuris Anti-infective Cures GmbH in Germany.
Dr Vuong was Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, adjunct appointment with the Department of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology at UMass Medical School from 2005 – 2009 and a visiting fellow at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases previous to this.
Dr Vuong holds a PhD in Biology, Microbial Genetics from Eberhard-Karls University Tuebingen, Germany. He is a reviewer for many journals in the field and has acted as scientific advisor / mentor on many projects including ZonMW - Exploring Bacterial Cytological Profiling to find novel antibiotic leads, Center for System based Antibiotic Research (Ruhr- Universität Bochum) and BMBF Target Validation Antibacterial Peptides (University of Leipzig).
