ISAC is delighted to invite you to its free webinar on Introduction to adaptive clinical trial design organised by the ISAC Early Career Working Group.

This webinar is the second in the Working Group's series on "When Pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology meet infectious diseases".

Adaptive designs can make clinical trials more flexible by utilising results accumulating in the trials to adjust the trials with respect to pre-specified rules. Adaptive design trials are often more efficient, informative and ethical than trials with a traditional fixed design since they often make better use of resources such as time and money and might require fewer participants.

Adaptive designs can be applied across all phases of clinical research, from early-phase dose escalation to confirmatory trials.

This talk will introduce different types of adaptive designs, general principles and their key aspects. The focus is on the interpretation and reporting of results from adaptive designs through examples in literature.

Speakers

Dr Xiaohui (Amanda) Wang (Director at Certara Inc, NJ, USA)
Amanda has been working and researching in statistics, psychometrics and pharmacometrics for the past 20 years. Amanda started working in population pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamic modelling and exposure-response modelling since 2016. Before that, she worked at PRA Health Sciences as a biostatistician for 4 years, leading studies of all phases and providing consultancy for pharmaceutical companies. Prior to her time at PRA, Amanda was an Assistant Professor of the Statistics Department at University of Virginia, where she has been teaching, researching and providing a statistical consultant service for UVA Medical School. Amanda is an expert on mixed effect models, Bayesian statistics and resampling techniques.

Dr Nusaibah Abdul Rahim (Senior Lecturer, Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Malaya)
Dr Nusaibah Abdul Rahim is a Senior Lecturer and currently the Head of Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Malaya, Malaysia. She is the Director of the Malaya Translational and Clinical Pharmacometrics Group, University of Malaya. Her research interest is in antimicrobial resistance. Nusaibah obtained her B.Pharm (Hons) and PhD at Monash University, Australia. She is also the Secretary of the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy Chapter. Nusaibah hopes to continue working towards combating AMR be it in lab and research or through educating future pharmacists.
