IJAA Editor-in-Chief

Following Professor Alasdair Geddes’ retirement after 10 years in the post, Professor Jean-Marc Rolain (Aix Marseille Université and Hôpital de la Timone, Marseille, France) has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents (IJAA).
Under Professor Geddes’ expert leadership, IJAA has gone from strength to strength over the last 10 years. In June 2015 we were delighted to learn that the journal’s Impact Factor had increased from 4.259 to 4.296 and that it is now ranked 14th out of 78 journals in the Infectious Diseases category, 21st out of 119 journals in the Microbiology category and 34th out of 254 journals in the Pharmacology & Pharmacy category of the Thomson Reuters, Journal Citation Reports.
The Journal continues to consistently attract over 1100 submissions per year. Thanks to a committed team of Editors, International Advisory Board Members and Reviewers, IJAA authors can expect extremely competitive turnaround times for all stages of the editorial process. Currently, the average time from manuscript submission to the initial decision on the article is 2.6 weeks and from manuscript acceptance to the final appearance online of the fully paginated article is 16.6 weeks.
Under Professor Rolain’s Editorship, the Journal has plans to develop a series of themed issues, comprised of mini-reviews, to explore new areas of antimicrobial agent research. It will also publish ‘virtual’ issues of papers that bring together recently published ‘hot-topic’ articles in the field of antimicrobial agents.
IJAA is the official Journal of the ISC and we hope that the IJAA will continue to be an essential journal for ISC members, both in terms of readership and authorship.
The ISC and Elsevier would like to thank Professor Alasdair Geddes for his tremendous efforts and achievements as Editor in Chief of IJAA over the last 10 years. We hope to build on his success and to continue to draw on his huge experience and continued support.
