2022 and beyond

Dear Colleagues

As 2021 draws to a close, ISAC would like to thank its Executive Committee members, Member Societies, Working Groups and global colleagues for working tirelessly on the ongoing battle against COVID-19. The situation continues to be challenging: your combined efforts have not gone unnoticed and are highly appreciated.

A closer relationship with our members over the pandemic has inspired ISAC to invest in a more rewarding membership experience.
In the recent ISAC / APUA newsletter, we set out ISAC’s strategy to achieve this aim by providing more free educational material.

Over recent months, ISAC has worked behind the scenes to establish the “ISAC Academy”. The new ISAC Academy website will be officially launched at the start of 2022.
As part of a soft-launch of the Academy, ISAC has already delivered numerous free webinars – the first of which was the COVID-19 series. Working Groups have also held several webinars on specialised topics.

A celebratory webinar was held to mark the combined 100-year anniversary of the International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ISAC) and the Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA). You can watch all webinars for free on ISAC’s YouTube channel.

Webinars planned for the beginning of 2022 include:

• “MDR Gram negative bacilli webinar” (co-hosted by the Japanese Society of Chemotherapy).
• “Publishing Tips & Tricks” (co-hosted by Elsevier).
• “Hot topics on skin, bone and joint infections” (organised by ISAC's Skin & Soft Tissue Infections Working Group).

In 2022, ISAC will begin developing e-learning modules. Plans are already underway to provide a freely available Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Infection Prevention & Control in collaboration with the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC). More details will follow soon.

As always, if you or your society has any suggestions for future activities, please email your proposals to the Executive Office (secretariat@isac.world).

We thank you for your continued support and we wish you a healthy and successful year.
