Carlos J Finlay Award
Funded by the Government of Cuba, the Carlos J Finlay UNESCO Prize for Microbiology aims to reward the efforts of an individual, an institution, non-governmental organisation or other entity which, through research and development, has made an outstanding contribution to the field of microbiology (including immunology, molecular biology, genetics etc.) and it's applications.
The candidates shall be designated by the government of Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions for UNESCO science institutions and associations, and non-government organisations in offical partnerships with UNESCO and active in revevant fields covered by the Prize. Nominations or applications from individuals will not be accepted.
Nominations for the Prize shall be submitted to the UNESCO Director-General at the address indicated below and by no later than 30th July 2015.
The nominations shall be accompanied by a written recommendation, which shall include either five hard or electronic copies (USB key/CD/DVD) copies in English or French of the following items:
a) a description of the candidate's background and achievements
b) a summary of the work or the results of the work, including publications or any other relevant supporting documentation
c) a definition of the candidates contribution to the Prize's objective
