Holiday wishes

Dear colleagues
As of November 2024, I am delighted to have assumed the role of ISAC President. I take this opportunity to thank my predecessor Prof. Geoff Coombs for his leadership over the past two years. I also extend my gratitude to our Executive Committee members, Member Societies, Working Groups and global colleagues for the valuable work they undertake in the field of infectious diseases and antimicrobial chemotherapy. I also thank Fee and Fiona, who make up ISAC's Executive Office, for all the work they do for ISAC.
Despite the many challenges faced globally, it is encouraging that colleagues continue their efforts so tirelessly.
It was particularly heartening that so many colleagues from all over the world, including several from my home country of Lebanon, travelled to Istanbul to take part in the 33rd International Congress of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ICC).
The congress was very successful with expert speakers presenting state of the art talks to packed rooms of likeminded colleagues. We were delighted to offer many travel grants for early career colleagues and for those working in Eastern Europe this year. Feedback has been very positive - read some testimonials here.
In addition to the 33rd ICC, ISAC also offered many free educational activities, from webinars to e-modules to the launch of the Abx Guide, a free pathogen directed antibiotic therapy guide. We have summarised ISAC’s 2024 activities here.
If you have any suggestions on how ISAC can collaborate with your society in 2025, please do get in touch at secretariat@isac.world. If your society is in a relevant field and does not yet belong to ISAC, you can join here for free – we accept new members!
We thank you for your continued support - wishing you happy holidays and a healthy and successful year ahead.
With kind regards
Professor Souha Kanj
