New Editor in Chief

The year 2024 marks a significant editorial change for ISAC journal, the Journal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance (JGAR). After more than a decade, Professor Stefania Stefani, founding Editor, has stepped down as Editor-in-Chief. She is succeeded by Athanasios Tsakris, Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology at the Medical School, University of Athens, Greece.
Stefania has demonstrated strong leadership of JGAR and has contributed significantly to the ISAC Executive Committee. Stefania’s ISAC and Elsevier colleagues are extremely grateful for her dynamism, drive, enthusiasm, support and friendship since becoming JGAR Editor-in-Chief in 2013. She has successfully nurtured and developed JGAR to its current level and felt that the time was right to step back and hand the reigns over to a new Editor-in-Chief.
We thank Professor Stefani for her outstanding service and welcome Professor Tsakris to the role.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Stefano Stracquadanio for his excellent work as Editorial Assistant to Stefania over recent years.
