Skin, Soft Tissue and Bone Infections Working Group

At the beginning of 2016 a review article was submitted to the ISC's official journal; IJAA (International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents) entitled "Hot topics on diagnosis and management of skin and soft tissue infections" .  The majority of members took part in the projects that were submitted to the journal on behalf of the group.

In 2016 the Working Group has already commenced with a similar project for preparing a review with personal and expert views, also to be submitted to IJAA, for a possible publication on behalf the group. The title will be “Prosthetic joints: shining lights on challenging blind spots”. For this project the group will also co-opt with orthopaedics from different countries generating a greater sense of ownership and hopefully this will have a better impact .

In 2016 the Working Group is also planning a Workshop to be held in Italy dealing with unmet needs of diagnosis and treatment SSTI's. The timeline will be defined in April 2016 however it is anticipated that most of the members will participate as speakers. The workshop will be addressed to a small audience of ID specialists and at the end of the open session all the speakers will discuss in small groups on more narrow topics, with a view to producing an expert review to be published as supplement in IJAA and/or other high impact journal.
