Antibiotic PK/PD: Where are we heading? (Jian Li & Jason Roberts)

IJAA’s latest theme issue highlights the major achievements on antibiotic PK/PD over the last decades, the valuable lessons we have learned and the significant challenges ahead. It is our wish that readers discover the importance of applying key antimicrobial PK/PD principles into clinical practice in order to maximise the efficacy while preventing adverse effects and emergence of antibiotic resistance.

Edited on behalf of the Working Group of Anti-infective Pharmacology of the International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ISAC), this special theme issue serves as a tribute and memorial to four anti-infective gurus who recently passed away, namely Professors Alan Forrest (1952-2018), Johan Mouton (1956-2019), Donald Kaye (1931-2019) and Hartmut Derendorf (1953-2020) [pictured]. They made remarkable contributions to antimicrobial pharmacology and chemotherapy over the last few decades and were incredible mentors for many in the field.
