The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2015

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2015 has been awarded jointly to Satoshi Ōmura, William C. Campbell and Youyou Tu for thier discoveries concerning novel therapy against roundworm parasites and Malaria.

In 2007 Professor Omura was presented with the ISC’s highest award; the Hamao Umezawa Memorial Award (HUMA) which is sponsored by the Microbial Chemistry Research Foundation of Japan. His award lecture was entitled “Discovery of useful microbial metabolites with specific biological targets” and was delivered in association with the ISC’s 25th ICC in Munich.
